Ambi Pur Augmented Reality

Ambi Pur went the extra mile to add value to shoppers experience by using Augmented Reality for an in-store activation. I wrote a post about Augmented Reality a while back questioning whether the platform is being used as a gimmick are adding utility and I feel this is a good example of how the technology can be more than just a gimmick. This installation illustrates how Ambi Pur added a new engaging element to the shopper experience by making the most out of the technology to talk to customers and build their brand.

The usual suspectย Total Immersion platform was used to develop the system and install the hardware side of things. The other big player being Metaio.

How it worked was shoppers held up their Ambi Pur product in front of a camera that was built into the installation. This action activated the Augmented Reality Layer on the digital displays. Watch the video below to see exactly what happened.

I like what Adam Mitchell had to say about how this augmented reality example added value to the shopping experience and how that relates to the brand.

They say that reaching customers whilst in the act of shopping is very effective on sales. This usage of Augmented Reality in a retail store is one that I feel added value to the consumer and the brand. It seems like customers used refill cartridges to spark off the experience. Refills mean that they were also encouraging people to get their old Ambi Pur’s releasing goodness again, rather than switching and trying a competitor. Enforcing the brand in a very cool way and I am almost sure it resulted in people buying the extra “auto sprayers” too. A nice touch to the display is that it also released the fragrances as a “sample” to the audience whilst being entertained. (viaย adsmitchell)
